In the old days, we could joke more freely about society. Now, everybody is too uptight.

humor13 humor8Previously, this website started as a weekly column in Hour Magazine, a Montreal’s leading English alt-weekly paper. It had beautiful content which was usually interesting, compelling and outrageous about the daily happenings in Montreal and the great North America region.

Most of the posts were humorous and ranged from showbiz, to politics and other pertinent issues affecting the society.

humor5 humor3The website was run and updated by a guy who identified himself as M-J Milloy from 2001 to sometimes in 2006. Most of the posts were interesting and current.

It also took me some time to figure out which content to publish on it until I found the cool content that MJ had published on the site previously. I will still be working to add more content about the recent happening in the entertainment industry, politics and other fields in the future. Otherwise, you can explore some of the satirical content that MJ had published which dates back to 2001.

The Best Night With My Grandma

I think that it has been six years now since I last saw her although it could be more than that as am not really good at remembering dates. I have always talked to her on phone whenever I could but the fact that I have been overseas for further studies really made it difficult to see her. When I came home for summer vacation before my final year of college, I was shocked to learn that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. She is one of the best people that I have ever come across and I couldn’t imagine what my life would have been if it wasn’t for her.

She has been the source of my inspiration and she always makes sure that she fattens me up each time I went to see her. The best part about my grandmother is her jokes. She is one of the funniest people on earth and when I was little, we’d sit in front of the TV just watching comedy for hours on end. With shows like The Jeffersons, Different Strokes and Sanford and Son which ran back in the 70s and 80s. She would make me watch them and pause a bit to explain to me the jokes that I did not get.

That is how awesome she is and just being around is one of those moments in life when you have a smile on your face or you are laughing the whole time that you are there. Her and grandfather used to talk and laugh for almost the entire day that I saw them together, I never once saw them fight or get mad at each other.

Planning our fun Comedy show night

When I got there, she told me that we needed to go see this comedy show that was in town and all the favorite stand up comedians across the country were going to be there. There is no way that I could afford to miss such an event. She already had gotten the tickets and I knew that it was going to be one great night just there at that show with her by my side laughing her head off. She is the person that made me love comedy shows and whenever I am in school, I always make sure that I attend at least two each semester.

Well, I attend two because there isn’t a lot of stand up comedians going around that country performing so it is really hard to actually get a good show that you can sit down, watch and actually be laughing the whole time. Whenever, my grandma picks a comedy show however, be sure that you will be laughing your teeth out the whole time. Never for once did she mention what she had been diagnosed with and I loved the fact that she did that.

I did not want to start thinking that I might lose her one of these fine days. The night was perfect and the best joke came when this really obese comedian was talking about a method of shedding inches quickly. It was really hilarious and my grandma almost fell to the floor with laughter.

The show was sold out and the comedy there was just on some level that I had never seen before. There is not even a single comedian that disappointed that night. The best part about it though was seeing my grandma in stitches and not having to worry for once about a single thing so that we could just enjoy that night. Looking at her laughing just took me away and this is because she is the sort of person that when you see her, she would never lack a joke to ease the tension.

This is why I know that I now do not want to go back to school so I can stay here and take care of her but I still have to go back. She wouldn’t let me quit school on the account of taking care of her. Knowing how stubborn she can be, there is no way around this. As am busy typing this with tears welling up in my eyes, although I have spilt three or four teardrops on this keyboard, she walks into the room and with a chuckle, asks, “What has four legs but only uses two to talk?” and walks out laughing. I run out of the room after her to find out what the funny answer is.
